White tea is lightly fermented tea. It gets its name from its dry leaves that are covered by fluffy white downy hairs. There are three types of traditional white tea. A new type of white tea was introduced in 1968.

Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needle)

Bai Hao Yin Zhen is the highest grade white tea. It is originated from Fu Ding, Fu Jian. Current Bai Hao Yin Zhen production regions are Fu Ding and Zheng He of Fu Jian province. Only tea buds of Da Bai Cha (Large White Tea ) trees are used in making Bai Hao Yin Zhen. Bai Hao Yin Zhen has straight needle like tea buds that covered with white downy hairs. Bai Hao Yin Zhen from Fu Ding is prettier and has refreshing crispy taste, while Bai Hao Yin Zhen from Zheng He has thick, mellow taste.

Chinese medicine believe that Bai Hao Yin Zhen has cooling effect. People in Fu Jian use it to treat some illnesses.


White Peony (Bai Mu Dan)

Second to Silver Needle, White Peony is also a famous Chinese white tea. It is originated from Zheng He, Fu Jian. Current White Peony production regions are Zheng He, Jian Yang, Song Xi and Fu Ding of Fu Jian province. High end White Peony is made of one bud and one leaf. White Peony has refreshing and mellow taste.
